about
On Wednesday June 3rd 2020 Black Lives Matter Southampton called for a demonstration outside the Guildhall (pictured). At short notice hundreds, if not a couple of thousand gathered to say enough is enough. Not only in solidarity with those in the USA mourning the Murder of George Floyd by a white supremacist cop, but to say we've had enough of systemic racism in our society too, the time for change has arrived.
This song was recorded as part of our demo in 2017. It seems apt to release it now as Donald Trump calls for Antifa to be labelled a terrorist organisation. Antifa is short for anti-fascist, as anti-fascists some members of this band have fought racism on the streets in the past. Not only is Trump looking for a scapegoat to blame for his cities burning, and a distraction from the real issue, he is probably shitting himself, that once the people unite to destroy systemic racism, and win, we may want more.
Every penny raised from the sale of this track will go to BLM Southampton, because we need to do whatever we can to support them, and that starts by listening.
The fascist threat is at our gate, delivered in a package of fear and hate.
Before you know they'll go door to door, to round up the fearfful to their cause.
Spread the hate, believe the lies, dont get blinded by national pride.
Antifa for our own defence, it's not safe to sit on the fence, use your mind, fists, and your feet, back down never, no retreat.
Stand together, working class unite, solidarity can win the fight.
Take too the streets, back down never, no retreat
Fascists taking to the streets, we will back down never, no retreat.
Oppose their ways, stand our ground, no platform ever, we won't back down.
Antifa for our own defence, it's not safe to sit on the fence, use your mind, fists, and your feet, back down never, no retreat.
